A Elp-DESK event took place at the Business School Ostrava, on Monday 18th October and involved three different groups of students. Following an introduction by the Manager of Eurocentrum Ostrava – Ms. Mauerová, the elp-DESK project was presented by elp-DESK partners. In the second part of the sessions the participants themselves completed their ELP using some of the methods / tools developed during the project: iPhone /iPod touch app, the on-line method developed by our Romanian partners and our Czech partners, Tempo, which presents the completion process in an easy to follow, visually attractive format using simplified language which is readily understood by the user. Over 70 students took part in the event and three lucky students were presented with elp-DESK memory sticks following a draw at the end of the sessions.

The elp-DESK Project has been showcased at the prestigious British Council ‘Going Global’ international education conference at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London on the 25th and 26th March.

The two day event brought together a wide range of educationalists from across the globe to the annual event whose key focus is to discuss the implications of the current worldwide recession on international education with particular reference to:

its effect on the global mobility of staff and students

an examination of what can be done

its impact on sharing knowledge and ideas worldwide

possible threats to the vision of a truly international education system

The conference explored trends and implications, investigated models for change and delivered frameworks for action across the areas of:

Staff and student mobility

Global partnerships

Global citizenship

Policy and leadership

The Europass Language Passport has a role to play in relation to all of these areas.

UK Partner Crystal represented the project at the event and the 1200 delegates had the opportunity to hear about the Europass Language Passport at the poster presentations on both days. The discussions generated were particularly useful in eliciting the delegates’ views on the ELP and how it might be further improved and developed.
