Crystal Presentations Ltd, the UK elp-DESK partner, has researched and developed an elp-DESK Application (App) for the iPhone / iPod Touch. The App is downloaded to the device, allowing the user to complete the passport and then send it as an automatically generated pdf via email, to someone such as a potential employer or perhaps as part of the admissions procedures for college or university. Alternatively the user may wish to send their completed ELP as a pdf to their own computer for storage. The iPhone app is now available check it out here Download iPhone app You can also download the iPhone presentation here.

Designed and developed by Tempo, our Czech partners, this online completion version is aimed at adult users and presents the completion process in an easy to follow, visually attractive format using simplified language which is readily understood by the user

Further Information:

Primarily, the main target groups of users are adult people but this on-line application could be used by everybody who wants to prove and show his/her language skills. Thanks to this on-line application the users can create their own ELP and present their language knowledge in official way. This tool can be useful especially for school leavers, applicants for work, etc.

As a more specific target group of users it could also be considered for private language schools and their learners. There are still many language courses that do not conclude with an official exam or certification and so the on-line application could be a solution as it clearly and officially reports skills and knowledge obtained during private language school courses.

Why the ELP-DESK On-line Application?

The ELP – DESK on-line application is a tool that simplifies the process of filling in the Europass Language Passport in more clear and understandable way. The on-line application for adults has been programmed as a multi-step application which divides whole process of creating the ELP into several stages. At the end of the whole procedure, the ELP will be generated as a PDF file.

Thanks to the more accessible approach, as well as the good-looking and simple design, the on-line application becomes very attractive and more understandable tool for creating ELP. Regarding the feedback that we have received already during the development of the on-line application, this instrument has presumption to enlarge the using of the ELP within the European countries.

This easy to use web-based system has been developed by Soros Educational Center Foundation (SEC) our Romanian partners for young people in the 10 to 18 age range, using humorous and colourful graphic elements to provide a fun and engaging interface, appropriate to their needs.

Further Information:

The purpose of the software is to provide an easy to use web based system for creating Europass Language Passport documents for students aged 10 to 18.

The Europass Language Passport is a formal document developed by the Council of Europe to describe the language skills of a person, skills that are vital for learning and working in Europe. The software provides widely available efficient means for users to easily and accurately describe their language skills in a Europass Language Passport document that they can use in their professional career.

The system provides a web based fill-in form containing fields and explanations for every section of a the Europass Language Passport template which after being completed and submitted will be transformed to a PDF document completed and formatted according to the requirements of the Europass Language Passport. The PDF document is ready to be printed or attached to a CV according to the needs of the user.

To address the proposed target group (young people aged 10 to 18) the graphic design combines humorous and colourful graphic elements that make the application visually appealing, counterbalances the technical, more academic nature of the Europass Language Passport. Two set of icons are used: one to illustrate progressive improvement and increase in language proficiency and another set to help visually identify the five different skills (speaking production, speaking interaction, understanding: listening, understanding: speaking, writing). The icons that imitate hand-drawing are meant to indicate that the Europass Language Passport is a considerable pedagogical tool that can be implemented in school education.

The software has a multilingual user base in the territory of the European Union and therefore it has a built-in internationalization and localization features.

The system requires minimal maintenance after installation to a web server. Platform independent technology has been used which enables the system to be operated on various operating systems: Windows, Linux, Unix etc.
